Side view. A drone flies toward a line of trees. At the brake point the pilot commands a stop and the drone pitches back, but inertia keeps it moving forward: an orange band shows the stopping distance growing until the drone halts, and a bracket shows the room left before the trees. Choose slow or fast, and with or without a payload: a faster drone has more kinetic energy and a heavier one has more inertia, so both need more distance and leave less room. In descent mode the drone is descending toward the ground; when thrust is added it keeps sinking for a distance before the descent stops. Distances are illustrative only.
