Two multirotors take off side by side and climb to the same working height. The faint outline on the left is a reference drone at sea level on a 15 degree C day (ISA). The solid drone on the right flies in the conditions set by the temperature, elevation and humidity sliders. Hotter air, higher elevation and more humid air all make the air thinner: the air-density gauge swings towards thin, there are fewer air particles in the sky, the lift reserve bar shrinks, and the solid drone climbs more slowly than the reference. The default setting is the lesson's mine-site example: 38 degrees C at about 800 m (2,600 ft) elevation. The display is qualitative and shows no performance numbers.
